I am a classical painter working in a fresh and inventive version of Nature Mort.  Using natural forms with strong design characteristics, I create paintings that blend careful observation with fanciful invention.  I am drawn to subjects expressing an extravagance in nature, such as orchids, lichens, corals and sponges.  Using a strong color sense and great attention to detail, I spend countless hours fine-tuning my paintings to a deep sense of balance and resolve.

My aesthetic sensibility is a fusion of classical and eccentric impulses that comes from a deep commitment to the art of painting.

“A Seductive Nature” is my newest series of paintings in an ongoing exploration of the natural world. Painting is a slippery medium and meaning can be altered with the flick of a brush. Each canvas is an experiment and its final resolution is always a fresh surprise.

I am drawn towards the lush extravagance of orchids and anemones, the intricate complexities of lichens and corals, finding in them a metaphor for our curious place in the universe.  Using drawings, models, photos and maquettes as investigatory tools, the work blends careful observation with fanciful invention.

My paintings draw people in with their sensual beauty, engaging them in contemplation of the wonder and strangeness of our world.
