ADAM CAHOON
In my recent body of work, I am corrupting, obstructing or covering recognizable motifs with abstract, geometric, or organic systems. By doing this, I hope to bring attention to images and ideas that have been in our lives for so long that we no longer notice them.
It is challenging to find relevance for an abstract scientific theory in our daily lives.
When these abstract concepts and theories are painted in the setting of familiar natural environments, the theoretical can exist in a setting with physical, tangible, and relatable properties. It is this relationship between the abstract concept and the natural environment as its vessel for understanding that interests me (particularly when these phenomena are presented as a diorama exhibit one might see at a natural history museum.)
My goal is not to produce answers, but to allow an investigation of these abstract theories within the environments I create for them.
