A certain, questionable nature unites the disparate pairing of the two creative forces in ArtZone 461's current shows:  Nicholas Coley and Susan Danis. Coley fills the gallery with works from the observed, recording all things natural to our surroundings.

Nicholas Coley's plein air oil paintings demonstrate his ability to capture an essence of a place, whether urban or otherwise, recorded through Coley's vision that seeks unity with his surroundings.  "I look for compositions with energy and try to emphasize the immediacy and rush of painting beside major thoroughfares and even in parking lots."  Coley allows color theory to take a back seat to a generally looser love of all color and makes more of a proclamation with bold brushwork and gestural lines. 

Coley studied painting first in France and, after touring Europe and Asia, he received his BFA from Evergreen State College in Washington State.
