ArtZone 461 Gallery, in ongoing celebration of its five year anniversary since opening on Valencia Street June 22 2008, presents its fifth summer group show of Gallery and guest artists, loosely gathered around the theme of “Fun In The Summertime”.   The Side Gallery offers a nice selection of works on paper including vintage prints by William Wolff and Jose Ramon Lerma, including elaborate, complex and engaging collages by the latter.   Also featured are historic works from Lerma’s collection and other familiar and fresh prints and drawings from Gallery and guest artists.

The Gallery introduced for its actual Fifth Anniversary Show, their first exhibition of contemporary abstract works as a demonstration of diversity in programming and interests moving forward.   ArtZone 461 has an established reputation for showing figurative and objective oil paintings – and all exclusively from San Francisco and Bay Area artists.   The Gallery is now positioned to offer a wider and more diverse selection of what the Gallery considers a growth and expansion in its exhibition schedule and still remain consistent in efforts to present the finest Bay Area artists available.

Meanwhile, this summer show represents a commitment to the Gallery‘s figurative roots.   It includes a few vintage Bay Area works that fit the theme of “Summertime Fun”.  Refreshing new landscapes from Nicholas Coley and Heidi McDowell remain appealing for the apparent opposite approaches to portraying the Bay Area and surroundings.  Sonja Navin’s sophisticated cityscapes and their looseness are complimented by Dale Erickson’s realistic depictions of San Francisco street scenes and other locations or buildings with detailed precision.

The entire main space is dedicated to this summer exhibit.  It provides an excellent opportunity to showcase some larger works and pairings of paintings mostly by current (and some from former) Gallery artists:  Randy Beckelheimer; Adam Cahoon; James Edmonds; Jane Fisher; Keith Gaspari; Eileen Moderbacher; Terry Thompson and Stan Washburn.  Other fun, summer vintage offerings are from Mary Robertson; Gordon Cook; a non-traditional Lundy Siegriest seascape and a lovely Pam Glover plein-air Sonoma county scene.  The results really are a fun in the summertime experience providing perhaps, a vicarious visit to a fun, faraway place.

Please notethe Gallery will be open by appointment only from August 19 through September 6, 2013.
